: Application ::
-----------------------------------
Character Details
-----------------------------------
Character Name: Kooties

Class: Paladin

Level: 90

(Provide us with a link to your profile in the Armory) http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/stormscale/kooties/simple

Professions and Skill Level: Engineering and Jewelcrafting both to full (600)

What Elixirs/Flasks/Buff food do you use in raids to boost your performance? Generally speaking I use 300 spirit food and 1000 spirit flasks for most encounters. If its a particularly throughput based fight where mana isn't really an issue (for example Gara'Jal) I tend to swap for int food and flask.

Describe what you think you would bring to our guild if accepted. (raiding and social aspects) I'd like to say (hope) I'm a generally nice guy that likes to have a good time playing, with a good motivation and patience to clear everything the game throws at me. I've got very good past experience, and have been a main raider for quite some time now, so I think I know my class pretty well.

-----------------------------------
Character History
-----------------------------------
Previous Guilds:
Aftermath, GameSense, Helion, Xeon, Booterang

Reason for Leaving:
Aftermath essentially because the team fell apart. It was a long standing 25man guild and the guild leader quit playing around when Firelands hit, but it had been leading to that for quite a while. (I believe another person has taken over now and they're raiding 10man instead now)

GameSense I moved to Outland with a RL friend in the hopes of finding a new guild and being PvP players it seemed a good option at the time. When the guild leadership was going to swap however (and having had no real raiding push) I decided I would try and get back into raiding and joined

Helion. I had solid experience with them, and we got a lot of progress, and a lot of kills. All of my Dragon Soul kills were pre-15% nerf including Heroic Deathwing. A few guild members had issues with the guild leaders bringing in boost PvP players so the leaders could get PvP boosts in return, especially losing spots to them come raid time, and since I believe its gradually fallen apart. It had solid experience and there were some decent players, but it wasn't socially a very good guild, the atmosphere wasn't great.

Xeon I joined around the end of their progress and finished it off with them, but come MoP people stopped playing and the GM left the realm so the guild kind of came to an end. We did get a few runs in but there wasn't much progress since it was a struggle to find players. In the end I just figured it was best to try look somewhere else

Booterang I joined after quite a break... I found it hard to find a guild at the start of the expansion, and I figured since I was taking a holiday in December, I'd wait it out and try when I got back. I decided it'd be better to apply for a guild after I returned instead of joining a raid team on progress and then having to leave them midway to go away.
I came to the guild having cleared the first few bosses in MSV on heroic around Oct/November last year, but since then have had barely any raids (they accepted me saying it was a 25man guild, but only really raided 10man, a team they had already had together for quite a while. I've not really wanted to be a benched raider and I have cleared all the content on normal, but its not really ideal. I feel a little like I've gone backwards, but I have been trying to help 2nd group runs and so on get their first kills.

Which brings me to now,

When did you start this character and how long have you /played? I have 2 paladins, but ones on my old account and is still 85 (can link if required/log it). This one has around 240 days played.

What encounters and raids have you experienced in Mists of Pandaria? Please state if it was on 10man or 25man and was it normal or heroic
I have cleared (rather disappointingly) only the first 3 bosses on heroic in MsV. Everything else on normal, and with the Protectors on Elite. Hopefully you can take into consideration I did clear all the first bosses (MsV) last year around the start of MoP in my good old dungeon blues!
I have done both 10 and 25 for all of these.

What previous raid experience (Vanilla, TBC, WoLK, Cata) do you have on this char? Please only mention stuff you did at the time when it was a current raid, we dont need to know you can clear black temple when you are level 90.
I started raiding in Wrath seriously; I cleared everything VoA, Naxx, OS, EoE, Ulduar, ToC, ToGC, ICC 12/12HC and RS10HC. I also did Undying, Champion, Herald of the Titans, Grand Crusader and Light of Dawn at this time (amongst others).

In Cataclysm I cleared BH, BwD, BoT, TFW, FL and DS all complete on Heroic. Pre-nerf. Including Dragonslayer, Sinestra bonus boss.
I also helped run DS/FL boost/alt runs clearing 7/7HC FL and 8/8HC DS on warrior (tank), DK (tank), druid (moonkin/resto) and priest (shadow/disc).
I also got Glory for all raids across 3 characters by the end of Cata.

What do you think YOUR responsibilities are in a raid? :
Give a original answer here, saying to buff and dps/heal/tank isn't really worth mentioning
To learn tactics, have all the best choice of gems, gear, enchants and food/flasks required to perform to the best of my capability. To not fail with the same mistake more than once. Be happy to give loot to balance the raid instead of for personal iLvl gain. Keep up to date with theorycraft. Even small things like best choice glyphs and spec variations per fight. Probably most of all, be there on time!

What is your Spell Rotation ?
As a healer there isn't really one. Buff Kings!
Depending on spec, use prism on CD (Hammer on Stack for boss abilities), Holy Shock on CD, keep beacon up on the tank taking damage (glyphed for swaps). Keep Eternal Flame up on tanks and then prio according to spec and class. (*Side note: you can play in PvP gear for increased spread for EF (Holy power conversion from set bonus), but since its not (generally speaking) a high heal, it can mean you need other healers to pick up the big spikes*). Wings for high damage, Divine Favor for more AoE throughput from the 20% increase haste. Without going into small things of what each spell does and saying 'heal', its hard to say really, just use CDs when needed really, rotate accordingly with the other healers and raid CDs.

Why have you chosen to reforge, gem and enchant the way you have? Give a brief description on why particular stats are good for your class/spec.
Int > Spirit > Mastery pretty much. Haste caps aren't really viable this tier, and its not proportionally worth the alteration in stats for it. Spirit for mana regen since the cap changes. Mastery for the absorb shielding. It works very well, especially this tier as it allows for big heals without a lot being wasted on over healing. It has good throughput and helps a lot with mana also.

Also Post a UI Screen Shot (this is so we know how you see what's around you)
At the moment its pretty much just standard UI with scripted frame alterations and recount/grid. I prefer it since I do a lot of PvP as well. I don't really like relying on addons overly as I like to be more aware. Especially if an addon is out of time, out of date, or not working, I don't want it to affect my play.

Post a World of Logs report from your past guild or a 3 minute DPS report on the training dummies:
I believe I have some when I got ranked in Cataclysm but I'm not sure if I have any current logs from guild. I don't think they keep any. If required I can do a recount shot next raid if that will help? Either or?! Sorry!

*seeing this will greatly help your app, if you have issues getting these reports please speak to a guild officer in game

-----------------------------------
Technical Information
-----------------------------------

Do you have oRA3 Deadly Boss Mods and OMEN ?
(Please don't apply until you have)
Yes
Please list any other add ons you use to help you raid.
Recount, Grid
Do you have a microphone & Ventrilo installed?
Yes to both
Describe your skills in spoken English:
Fluent
What's your connection & computer hardware?
Well I have Virgin/Sky Fiber optic both at my home and at my families house so my nets pretty solid. Computer wise hard to say, I just picked up my old PC I had which I plan on updating. Going to sound a little vague, but I'm not really much of a technical person: a year ago, it had the best Graphics card and so on there was. I mean its probably had 1000 odd put into it, so I'm fairly sure it does a good job lol. I'm putting 2 terabyte drives in it and will probably at some point update graphics etc if required
-----------------------------------
General Information
-----------------------------------

Age: 24 on Sunday Razz

Country: England

Why did you choose to apply to this guild in particular?
It seems a good guild with decent progress and hopefully a nice raiding atmosphere. I've tried briefly to get hold of officers/GM, and those I spoke to seemed pleasant which is always nice : )

Players you know / How did you come across us?
I don't know any players, and I found you when I was looking online in Kazzak and also on WoWProgress looking for Holydins

Alts and Level (if any):
I have a Monk, Priest, Warrior, DK, Lock, Druid, Shaman all at level 90. Monk, Priest, Shaman all MS healer, DK, Warrior and Druid currently all Tanks. I do also have a rogue, hunter, 2 alt priests, a mage and my alt pala at 85.

Are you or any of your alts currently guilded?: All are in guilds yes, but mostly social just for perks. I don't tend to add them all to guilds if I'm not going to be a long standing member on my main there

Did you read our Rules & Policies?
Yes

What days can you play and what hours during those days (Please let us know now so no confusion is caused if you were to be accepted)?:
(Members are required to be available for raiding at least 3/5 nights week with higher attendance preferred.) Raid days are Sun-Thur, 2000-0000 server time we do occasionally stay later if we are close to a kill. Fri & Sat are off nights but if people are online we try to do alt runs or RBG's.
Every day at any hour required really lol. I work for myself so my time is pretty easy to fit around anything on here. I'm usually on at latest around 6pm Realm Time and I'll log around 1-2.

Previous online gaming experience (if any): -

Anything else you'd like to include about yourself:
Not sure if this is personally or in game, but since there wasn't a question, I'm quite a passionate PvP player as well, achieving Glad in Wrath on my old Pala, duelist on priest and then Hero last season in RBG. I've consistantly (bar this season) been above 2.4-7k on my main in RBG, and most alts (rogue, druid, priest, dk, warrior) have all played to around 2.2-4k as well.[/i]

I've logged out in my PvE set. Sorry the UI shot isn't brilliant, I'm not on my home PC at the moment and since raiding is over for the week it probably doesn't show much! Its also in my PvP spec which is why LoD etc isn't showing : )

Generally speaking, if it looks unbound its probably bound to mouse lol.

Few things i noticed, you say you completed cata raids pre nerf, well dates dont match up, so was jus curious is there another character or what exactly have you killed when it was Relevant content? (Give details please)

Your bracer enchant should be intelect over mastery.

For your talents i would use pursuit of justice in tier 1, get the fist in tier 2, and id take hammer on every fight on heroic except will of emps, prism is a bit wank..

Change your 3rd glyph to protector of the inocent, its free healing on yourself!

Also in the section of rotation etc you havent mentioned using LoD or Holy Radiance much.. ?

Good Luck, Sey

Sorry if there was a miscommunication, I do have multiple paladins (this being new main). On this character I cleared most content (Mor - Blackhorn) pre Feb 28th which was when 10% nerf came in. I thought I wrote that, maybe not? Sorry either way.
I'm currently re-levelling enchanting on an alt since the bracer enchant is about 6k at its cheapest on my realm, I'm aware its better, but its a little steep. So kinda working on getting that myself. That said, patch hits soon, so that'll change everything.
Spec wise, I'm not sure what one was active? If its the primary, its my PvP spec. I currently run Speed/Pursuit depending on raid/fight, Fist, Eternal Flame, Unbreakable Spirit/Purity depending (Fights with debuffs like windstep etc), Divine Purpose and then Lights Hammer or Prism depending. Prism is actually a really solid choice for fights like Tsulong, its not brilliant in HoF/MsV, but situation dependant it can be very nice.
No, I didn't mention all of those, maybe I should... but healing is highly situational and there isn't a literal 'get power do xyz' base for everything. If its a grouped fight with AoE damage then yes I tend to use Radiance for Holy Power. Otherwise it can be better to use as many stacks of EF as possible spread and heal individually. For example on Garalon, (especially in 10m) its not that cost effective for the throughput it ends up doing over the whole raid. So if we're stacked its LoD, otherwise I tend to favor Eternal Flame for tanks and certain fights where its not as mana effective.
Glyph wise I do use PotI, Divinity and Beacon. I think maybe there was a mix up there I probably could have explained earlier.

If you wanted me to go further into rotation and spell usage then I am happy to log or vent/mumble/skype anyone to chat about my choices for each fight. Things this expansion have been so fight dependent its kind of hard to pick one set spec for everything. I wasn't sure how much into detail you required really, without listing what everything does. Sorry :c

Is this other paladin on a different account and could you throw an armory link please, jus want to be certain im sure you'l understand.

and that server must be horrible, sha crystals are 300g on kazzak.

well we are mainly heroic fights and its Hammer all the way + LoD and HR being used alot!

Jus for the listing, you should always go into detail to show understanding of your class otherwise you jus look like any other freshly dinged 90..

Were saying how you wrote that you cleared all of cata content pre-nerf when it was basically killed with full heroic DS gear im guessing (hardly pre-nerf). Unless it's on another account.

Another account. My old one, which is why its probably no use. But my paladin I applied on (only way can definitively show experience without question) (at least if my maths/dates are correct) should have done everything pre 10% and then Deathwing/Spine on 15%. Or was that wrong to your dates, hence the liar comment? :'c *sniff*.
It is, its gone down now, its still about 2k, but I'll get that later (though isn't patch tomorrow?).
This is true, it also means you can go for an extremely heavy Spirit gemming build to enable it to almost be spammed without issue.
I've been doing a lot of 10man recently though, and Prism is a solid choice for fights like Sha and Tsulong, it really depends. Its very versatile I think thats the thing. You can use it for both damage and healing and unlike Hammer its not strictly AoE based. But yes, generally speaking you'd always take Lights Hammer. It also effects the use of radiance and LoD because in some situations its just not as effective.
I think the spec point is especially shown in HoF where you can pretty much alter your spec per fight: pretty standard spec for Vizier, Hand of Purity/Clemency being good choices for Blade Lord for debuff targets. Eternal Flame for Garalon. Holy Avenger can be very nice on Wind Lord - it also works very nice if you can get Illuminated Healing stacks up through mastery by stacking a lot of Holy Radiance casts on the raid before Blades to soak some of the damage. Purity is again a solid choice for Amber shaper because of the debuff, Eternal Flame also a solid choice here, although you can choose otherwise and spam LoD over the raid especially in the last phase, its a nice blanket heal that can be very effective, even more so when coupled with Divine Purpose.
Eternal Flame really just works for keeping a blanket up on the raid. If you run DP you gain bonus procs which allow for quicker, easy, free big heals. (I think I mentioned you can couple this with PvP gear for extremely good coverage).
But again, feel free to ask me anything. I'm not really 100% what is required to be said, I imagine most people have a base knowledge of paladin healing and what heals do what, its probably more when to use each and what CDs I would choose to use and when. Happy to discuss anything anyway, trust me its not because I don't know what I'm doing!

I think its a miss-type. I have done content before, but since I can't really show it since the accounts aren't linked right now, there isn't really a way of proving much bar me saying 'this is me'. I meant DS, since I was talking about this character, it made sense in my head, but I think I've been reading my writing for so long it probably doesn't in reality. Sorry for that.

This whole situational thing isnt strictly true, as you know we are killing heroics and the techniques you describe for each fight dont cut it on heroic, thats were the lack of experience is worrying...

And no patch isnt tomorrow, it wont be here for another week maybe 2..

I have never used holy prism, 25man raiding hammer does plenty of healing and plenty of dmg at the same time.

Also why do you have a new account what happened the old one?

It is on 10man which is what I've been doing most recently. I'm aware spec changes as will stat prios etc accordingly. But since I've been doing 10man, I was trying to explain my choices (Please bare in mind that my main healing spec (spec 2 in my armory) is a LH spec, not Prism, I know how strong it is, just saying there are fights that other options work well in).
On 10man it is very different, fights like Tsulong for example end up being more effective for light phases to have prism. You tend to not have so many people stacked up on this phase (bar the couple of healers) and having prism on such a short cd comparatively just works. To use the talent calc maths its a AoE heal of 3690 as LH per 2 second for 16 seconds vs 16404 as a burst heal. Since most adds should be killed before they reach the boss anyway the damage brings nothing really, its almost just wasted, its not as effective. In 25man its a different story. And of course for the majority of fights its not even a consideration in choosing LH over everything else. I mean Feng HC without LH...!!
So again, I use Lights Hammer as standard spec, on a couple of fights this might change because on 10man it works with the setup we're running, but otherwise, my spec is exactly as you're saying it should be. Its Talent spec 2 in my armory, not talent tree 1 which is my PvP spec, so as not to get mixed up.
I haven't cleared all the bosses no, but I don't lack experience in knowledge of my class and what works for each fight. I keep well up to date with all theory craft and boss mechanics, and on 10man, that works. Maybe I explained things based on what I play, or have been doing recently, and maybe I needed to explain things for 25man content where things are a little different. Perhaps I misunderstood the question. But for 10man, from a Holy PoV, it should be the right answer lol.
I have 2 accounts because essentially I play too many chars, I've ended up with 3 priests, 2 paladins, a mage, a dk, a warrior, hunter, rogue, druid, monk... essentially way too many characters for 1 account/realm to hold. It also became very useful for professions when I could log and enchant/gem etc my own characters from both. So I have 2 accounts. I always have.

Its the one boss that is almost the variant in everything, which was why I mentioned it. Perhaps to my mistake since I think everyone now believes I run a weird Holy Prism spec for every fight >.>'
Its the one fight that mastery is kind of +/- on as well, haste can be very solid since the Illuminated Healing is capped at 1/3 HP and wont get consumed unless the boss is being hit by debuff/adds which in theory shouldn't happen.
HP or Execution Sentence used at the end of buff can almost double your healing output. Especially if you tie all your CDs with pot etc for light phase.
Otherwise stick to PoJ > FoJ > EF > US > DP > LH build with PotI, Divinity and Beacon glyphs. Situational depending DP glyph can be nice, but generally speaking I don't think losing Beacon as a non-GCD spell is worth it.

I don't know, I think the point I was trying to make was missed. There's a standard build, but it can change if needed. For example do you run the same spec for Lei Shi? Do you not pick up Purity for stack management? Its benefits way outweigh the other 2 talents of its tier for it (70% damage reduction on period effects). I don't think you can say that there's only one viable spec and everything else is wrong without having tested it really.

Anyway you've convinced me you may be worth a trial but its up to crabby so il leave it at that.
